not two tired anymore

I've done it. Today I put in an order for a Nimbus 29er, with an Isis hub, a 300mm seat post, 125mm cranks, and red highlights.

What does all that mean? It means I've gotten far enough in my efforts to learn to unicycle that I'm buying my own! (You can have yours back in a week, Daniel). I am confident enough in my abilities (or at least the potential of my abilities) that I'm sinking over 300 bucks into the coolest, manliest form of transportation I have ever tried. Soon you should see me zipping around town in what amounts to a perpetual wheelie. Now I just need to find someone I can con into learning to unicycle so we can go riding together. Who knows, maybe some day I'll even try muni!

Strike out!

Anyone who watches tv knows about the big strike going on between the Writers[sic] Guild of America and the big production companies. Most people don't quite understand what the strike is all about, and many of those who do don't seem to care too much. So I'm not going to delve into that today.

My question is: If this goes on long enough, do you think there's any chance that it will revitalize America's capacity for creativity? I mean, if all that's on tv is the same old reruns, how long do you think it will take for people to start getting fed up and, oh, I dunno, read a book? Or do a puzzle? Or even - heavens forfend! - go outside and play ball?

I doubt that this is an impending event, but I can't help being excited about it anyway. Maybe when we go for walks in the evenings, we'll actually start passing some of our neighbors?
